 Life in the Spirit Team

Bernard Thompson has been part of Life in the Spirit since its inception in 1979. Married to Chris, he has been in pastoral ministry for 40 years and is currently in his 21st year at Ridgeway Community Church, Wallingford in Oxfordshire. Bernard chairs Teamwork Support Ministries and has been ministering in Africa for over 25 years. He is also a director of Schools Outreach. His main hobby is numismatics (coins) ,specialising in ancient Greek and Early Roman, and the English Civil War period. Bernard and Chris have three children and seven grandchildren.

Roger Welch
 
Roger and his wife Diane have been serving the church at Merland Rise, Tadworth, since 1981. They married in 1973 and have 2 grown up daughters, one son-in-law and one grandson. Roger was initially a history teacher, and retains a keen interest in church history through reading. lecturing and writing. He has had a long involvement in governance and other ministry with Wycliffe Bible Translators, in the UK and overseas, and is currently Chairman of their International Board. He has been involved in Life in the Spirit since 1984, and joined the conference team in the late 80s.

 

Sam Storms, Ph.D., is president of Enjoying God Ministries, based in Kansas City, Missouri.   Before moving to Kasas City in 2004, Sam taught theology for four years at Wheaton College in Illinois. Prior to this, Sam served in pastoral ministry for 25 years. He is the author of twelve books (most recently, CONVERGENCE:-The Spiritual Journey of a Charismatic Calvinist, Kingsway) and numerous journal articles. He and his wife Ann are the parents of two grown daughters and have two grandsons. Sam joined the Life in the Spirit Team in 2007.

Gareth Lloyd-Jones

After a career in Sales Management, Gareth moved from Rochdale, to become the Pastor of Mottram Evangelical Church in 1999. Now leading both the church in Mottram and a church plant in Hattersley, Gareth finds himself spread incresingly thin! Married to Tracey they have 2 children, Samuel and Sian. Although being a keen football fan, Gareth supports Manchester City!

Peter Cockrell

Peter's passion is to see healthy local churches enjoying God's grace and living for his glory. He is committed to the primacy of Holy Spirit anointed expository preaching and Bible teaching as the chief means of discipling God's people and equipping them for ministry.

After nearly 20 years in local church pastoral ministry, Peter has laid down his
pastorate in Worthing, in order to obey the Lord's call to serve, encourage, and teach believers in the poor and persecuted regions of the world. Check out his blog, 'Already Not Yet', to keep up with events!

Andrew Whitman

Andrew hails from a farming background in North London (honest guv!...), was converted during the hippy movement, and has been pastoring local churches for the past 23 years. During that time "Life in the Spirit" has been a genuine lifeline! He is currently Pastor for evangelism and discipleship at Bournemouth Community Church and also teaches preaching skills at nearby Moorlands College. Andrew has just celebrated 27 great years of marriage with wife Rosie and they have two grown-up sons. He hates DIY and loves Arsenal with equal passion!

Paul Sands

Paul is a former director of Tie Rack and comes from a Presbyterian/Brethren background in Northern Ireland. He is team leader of the International Gospel Church in Burnt Oak, London that is a cell-based, multi-cultural and of a charismatic flavour. He has been married to Ruth for 25 years and they have three children.

Simon Ladd

 

Simon first attended LIFE IN THE SPIRIT CONFERENCE in 1983 when he was a student at London Theological College. Since then he has pastored in Grace Baptist, FIEC and AOG churches! He has also worked in a bed-factory, taught maths and english in Highpoint Prison and has worked on a residential project for vulnerable youngsters - some of whom were battling alcoholism and drug-addiction. Since 2006 Simon has been Senior Leader of West Road Church in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk - along with his wife Belinda and children Adam, Abi and Ben.
